If you enjoy a cocktail every so often, leave your money out of the casino if you are going to do your consuming in a casino. I’m serious. Empty your pocketbook, your billfold, and keep all cash, credit cards and checkbooks back at the hotel. Only take whatever money you anticipate to use on beverages, tips and whatever pocket change you expect to throw away and leave the rest behind.

Cynical? Not really. Just realistic. You may well experience a success after a drunken evening out with your friends and be lucky sufficiently to hit a marathon roll at a smokin craps table. Keep that story because it’s as brief as it gets if you regularly drink and wager. The two simply don’t mix.

Leaving your cash back at the hotel might be a little dramatic, but precautionary measures for excessive behavior is necessary. If you wager to succeed, then don’t consume alcohol and gamble. If you like to be wasteful with your assets nary a worry, then drink all the no charge booze you can handle, but don’t take credit cards and chequebooks to toss into the mix of going after squanderings after your befuddled brain squanders all the cash!
