Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling hall betting is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime spot, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and even though visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, contains 150 slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that highlights a number of comforts in addition to the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
